Blog: TMB Stage 4.1: Rest Day in Courmayeur

After 4 days of intense hiking, we decided to take a day to rest on Monday, July 4, 2016 to celebration our Independence and exhaustion.

We start our rest days by turning off alarms.  We got to enjoy breakfast with the Quilty (basketball) family before they hit they trail.  We also ran into our Swedish friends!

We decided to switch hotels for one reason: wifi.  Our 4-star hotel had free wifi, but when I did a speed test, we discovered it was useless.

So early in the morning before breakfast, I scoured the city city for wifi.  I checked cafes, the tourist office, and even the library.  I even went to Kevin's hotel to see if there was a signal.  I ran into he and his son before breakfast, and after seeing the goodness and getting strong wifi, I knew Hotel Crampon the best solution!

We hauled our packs over and settled into Hotel Crampon.  Later, mom would go to a park to journal, while dad and I went to a cafe to take advantage of wifi with a strong upload network-- just what I needed to upload massive amounts of photos to the blog.

Dorothy Reflections:
Our two days in Courmayeur were just what I needed after our harrowing Stage 3--although we didn't rest until after Stage 4. The beauty of the town, delicious food, and walking around in Crocs instead of heavy hiking boots and pack- free was bliss! I had some needed alone time to reflect, journal, and sit quietly in a park listening to birds, a river, the wind, and laughing children in the distance. I also enjoyed coffee and a croissant at a little sidewalk cafe. The rest day was restorative on multiple levels and I am so grateful!

Later we enjoyed dinner and did some shopping for the next day's lunches.  I met a guy from Romania!

After we got back to the hotel, our hostess, Lauren, helped call ahead to book nights at other hotels on the TMB.  Thank you!!
